Edgebaston Calthorpe Estate Old Office Building Made Modern
The construction of
Recently refurbished by Glancy Nicholls Architects (GNA), the new Calthorpe Estate was converted from a small closed cellular office building into an open building with plenty of ventilation and the capabilities of a modern office building which include multiple electrical accommodations and space accommodations.
GNA spokesman Lyndon Glancy said that while the building was originally cubicle like many period estates, the company was able to take some of the better architectural traits of the building period, such as higher ceilings, and convert the area to create a more contemporary building.
Glancy went on to say that while it was a challenge, the end result was a combination of the best building traits of the past and current modern future which enabled them to create an additional 750sq ft of office space.
Notable in the new remodelled version of the building is a reception area, wet room, kitchen area, and larger meeting rooms as well the conversion of small separate offices into wide open shared office areas that allow employees to converse and share knowledge easily with enough room to cater for other individuals wishing to take advantage of the well equipped office space to rent a desk.
Additionally, it is worth noting that the exterior of the Calpthorpe Estate was maintained in order to meet the guidelines of the Edgebaston area which presses a heavy emphasis towards preserving the historical and original features of each of its period buildings.
The result: an office building that retains a sense of its past equipped with the modern perks of today.
