Laxton is a small rural village in N. Nottinghamsire, going back to 1066 and the Norman Conquest.
Todays visitors can still see the site of the castle at the outskirts of Laxton, and witness the areas best preserved motte and bailey castle.
You can also visit the fine looking, and attractive, church which goes back to early 12th century and is still in use today.
Yet, what makes Laxton truly unusual is its use today of the Medieval Open Field Farming System.
This is the last remaining open farming system in Europe and you can meander the village by yourself or have a tour with a local, that we will organise for you.
